Summerfield and the Champions Club in Stuart: A 2026 Guide to Fazio Golf on a Pay-as-You-Play Basis
Quick answer: Summerfield is a gated, all-ages community of about 500 homes south of Cove Road and west of US 1 in Stuart, Martin County, built around the Champions Club at Summerfield, a Tom Fazio par 72 that opened in 1993. Golf membership is optional and the course is open to the public, with 2026 annual memberships published at $4,575 single and $6,450 couple, no equity. There is an HOA fee, billed quarterly. Recent listings ran about $485,000 to $750,000, with some up near $1 million.
Summerfield is one of the easiest golf communities in Stuart to explain. There's a gated neighborhood of about 500 homes. In the middle is a Tom Fazio course with a clubhouse and a restaurant. The course is open to the public, and if you live there you can buy an annual membership, a snowbird membership, or nothing at all. There's an HOA fee and no club dues unless you want them. That's the whole pitch, and for a lot of buyers it's enough.

The golf, with actual prices
This is one of the few clubs on the coast that publishes its rates, so here they are. Public play in 2026 runs about $65 in the morning, $54 midday and $44 after 2 p.m. A summer membership is $150 for May through October. The annual membership for 2026 is $4,575 for a single and $6,450 for a couple plus tax, with no equity deposit, no assessments and no minimums. There's a trail-fee option at $2,875 single or $4,575 couple, and a three-month snowbird membership at $3,150 single or $4,250 couple. Compare that to the equity clubs in Stuart, where the buy-in alone can be ten times the Champions Club's annual dues.
The course itself is a Fazio from 1993, 6,890 yards from the golds, bordered on one side by state preserve. GolfPass and the club call it public; one directory says semi-private and another says private, but the club's own rate sheet settles it. There's a restaurant at the clubhouse serving breakfast and lunch.
The neighborhood
Summerfield is run by its own community association, separate from the golf club. The official amenities are a pool open dawn to dusk, an exercise studio open around the clock, three tennis courts, two pickleball courts and a clubhouse residents can reserve. Some broker pages claim six tennis courts and clubhouse dining; the association's own page doesn't, so go with the association.
MLS labels break it into Summerfield, Summerfield Estates and Summerfield Point, plus golf-club and estate-home phases. One thing to watch when you're searching online: Montego Cove, the 55+ condo community next door, sometimes gets lumped into Summerfield results. It's a separate community with different rules.
Fees, rules and prices
There is an HOA fee, billed quarterly, and it varies by section. Buyers pay a capital contribution equal to one quarterly payment. Get the current figure from the association before you write an offer.
Rentals are allowed with restrictions. The association's lease application limits leasing to twice in any 12 months, requires board approval in advance, and charges an application fee plus a background check per adult. Pets are allowed. Roof age, insurance and flood zone weren't published, and on homes from the 1990s the roof question is the first one I'd ask.
Prices: recent listings ran about $485,000 to $750,000 with a median sale near $560,000 and about $298 a square foot. One brokerage shows listings and sales from $490,000 up to about $1 million, with an average sale around $775,000 skewed by the larger estate homes. About half of recent buyers paid cash. For the rest of the Stuart golf market, see the golf communities guide, and for a similar no-equity setup on the west side of town, the Florida Club.
Who it suits
Families and buyers of any age who want a larger home at a moderate price in a gated neighborhood, and golfers who want a good course they can play as much or as little as they like without a five-figure buy-in. Downtown Stuart, the beaches on Hutchinson Island and Hobe Sound are all close. If you've been priced out of the club communities and still want to look out at a fairway, start here.
