EPCOT From the Treasure Coast: The Grown-Up Disney Park, Two Hours Away (2026)
Quick answer: EPCOT is about 122 miles from Port St. Lucie and 102 from Vero Beach, roughly two hours up the Turnpike, and of the four Disney parks it's the one Treasure Coast retirees actually go back to. It runs festivals for about nine months of the year, the World Showcase has eleven countries of restaurants and bars, the concerts are included with admission, and the park is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a fireworks show at close. Parking is $35, a one day ticket is $129 to $199, and annual passholders can walk in after 2 p.m. without a reservation, which is exactly how locals do it: arrive mid afternoon, eat your way around the lagoon, watch Luminous at 9, and drive home. The Food and Wine Festival runs August 27 to November 21, 2026, the Festival of the Holidays with the Candlelight Processional November 27 to December 30, Festival of the Arts January 15 to March 1, 2027, and Flower and Garden March 10 to May 31, 2027.
If Magic Kingdom is the park you take the grandkids to, EPCOT is the park you go to without them. Half the couples I know with Disney annual passes on the Treasure Coast use them almost entirely here, on weekday afternoons, for a walk around the World Showcase, a couple of glasses of something, a concert and the fireworks. It's a different kind of Disney day, and it's the one that fits a two hour drive best, because you don't need to be there when the gates open. This is the EPCOT half of my Disney from the Treasure Coast guide.

The park in four pieces
EPCOT is 305 acres, roughly three Magic Kingdoms, and since the rebuild that finished in 2023 it's organized into four neighborhoods. World Celebration is the front of the park, with Spaceship Earth (the golf ball) and Journey into Imagination. World Discovery is the thrill side: Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, a backwards launch indoor coaster with a 42 inch minimum that's the best ride at Disney World, Mission: SPACE, and Test Track, which reopened July 22, 2025 completely reimagined with General Motors back as sponsor and the 65 mph outdoor loop intact. World Nature has Soarin', The Seas with Nemo, Living with the Land and the Journey of Water walk through. Soarin' Across America, a new film celebrating the country's 250th, opened May 26, 2026 for a limited run with no end date announced.
And then the World Showcase, which is the reason adults come. Eleven pavilions around the lagoon, clockwise from Mexico: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom and Canada. Frozen Ever After is in Norway, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure in France, and the Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride in Mexico, and none of them has a height requirement, so this is also the side of the park that works with a four year old.
The festivals are the whole point
EPCOT runs a festival about 40 weeks a year, and each one changes the food, the concerts and the crowd. The dates for the year ahead:
- International Food and Wine Festival, August 27 to November 21, 2026. About three dozen global marketplaces with small plates and pours around the lagoon. Eat to the Beat concerts at the America Gardens Theatre nightly through November 16 at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m., included with admission, first come first served, with dining packages for a guaranteed seat at $36 to $99. Boyz II Men play November 2 and 3, the Beach Boys November 11 and 12. Weekdays between 11 and 5 are the light hours.
- Festival of the Holidays, November 27 to December 30, 2026. The Candlelight Processional runs nightly at 4:45, 6:30 and 8 p.m. with a 50 piece orchestra, a choir of more than 150 and a celebrity narrator reading the Christmas story. The 2026 narrators include Gary Sinise, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Roberts, Jason Kelce, Neil Patrick Harris, Ralph Macchio, Henry Winkler, Simu Liu and Eva Longoria. It's included with admission; dining packages ($43 to $109) go on sale October 14 and are the sane way to get a seat.
- Festival of the Arts, January 15 to March 1, 2027. Food studios, visual artists, and the Disney on Broadway concert series. The quietest of the four and, for a lot of people here, the best.
- Flower and Garden, March 10 to May 31, 2027. Topiaries, outdoor kitchens and the Garden Rocks concerts, which in 2026 ran three shows a night at 5:30, 6:45 and 8.
The local's math: a Pixie Dust pass is $489 plus tax for the year. Six festival afternoons at EPCOT on weekdays makes each visit about $80 before you've bought a thing, versus $129 to $199 for a one day ticket, and you never have to plan a trip around a hotel.
Eating and drinking around the world
This is a park with real restaurants. Le Cellier in Canada is the steakhouse, $35 to $60 a person. Monsieur Paul in France and Takumi-Tei in Japan are the two signature rooms, over $60. In the $15 to $35 range, San Angel Inn inside the Mexico pyramid, Teppan Edo's hibachi in Japan, Via Napoli's pizza in Italy, the Rose and Crown pub in the UK, and Spice Road Table in Morocco with the best fireworks view of the bunch. Space 220 in World Discovery is dinner in a simulated orbit 220 miles up, and it books out fast. Reservations open 60 days ahead and the good tables at 7 p.m. on a festival Saturday are gone in minutes; a Tuesday at 5:30 is a different story.
Then there's the tradition every visitor eventually tries: drinking around the world, one drink in each of the eleven pavilions. Figure $120 to $150 a person if you do it properly, and figure on a designated driver if you do it at all, because it's a two hour drive home. A lot of Treasure Coast couples I know do it once, in their first year, and then settle into a rhythm of two or three favorites a visit. The margarita stand outside Mexico and the Rose and Crown patio during the fireworks are the two most people end up at.
Luminous, and the end of the night
Luminous The Symphony of Us is the nighttime show over World Showcase Lagoon, about 18 minutes of fountains, lasers and fireworks at 9 p.m., or 9:15 during the holiday festival when the park closes at 9. The lagoon is big enough that you don't need a spot two hours early; anywhere along the rail between Mexico and Canada works, and the back of the American Adventure is the least crowded. When it's over, the walk to the car is ten minutes, which is the other advantage over Magic Kingdom. From the lot to Port St. Lucie is two hours, so a 9 p.m. show means you're home a little after 11:30. If that's too late, the 8 p.m. Eat to the Beat set and an early exit gets you home by 10:30.
How locals do EPCOT
- Come after 2. Annual passholders can enter EPCOT after 2 p.m. any day without a park reservation. Leave Port St. Lucie at 11:30, park by 1:45, and you have seven hours: two rides in World Discovery while the day crowd is at lunch, the World Showcase from 4, a concert at 6:45, dinner, Luminous, home.
- Weekdays, always. Festival weekends bring the Orlando locals in and the walkways around the marketplaces get slow. Tuesday through Thursday the same booths have no line.
- Skip Lightning Lane unless you want Guardians. Multi Pass here is the cheapest at Disney, but after 2 p.m. on a weekday the standby lines for Soarin', Test Track and Frozen are usually 20 to 40 minutes. Guardians is the exception; buy the Single Pass in the app or use the standby line first thing after you arrive.
- Use the back door if you're staying. The International Gateway between France and the UK connects to the Skyliner and the Boardwalk resorts. You can't reach it from the parking lot, but on a night you've booked a room it's the best way in and out.
- Ride Spaceship Earth now. Disney announced a full reimagining at D23 in August 2026. No closure date yet, but when it goes it'll be gone for a while.
Who this park is for
EPCOT is the park for the buyers I see most: couples in their fifties, sixties and seventies who wanted the Florida life and wanted Orlando within reach without living in it. The Pixie Dust pass and a Tuesday afternoon here is one of the best values in the state. The Vitalia and Kings Isle crowd in Port St. Lucie, the Grand Harbor people in Vero who are 20 minutes closer, and the Summerfield and Florida Club couples in Stuart all do some version of it. It's also the park that works for a visiting friend who says they're not a Disney person. Take them to France at 6 on a festival night and see if they still say it. For the other parks, my guides to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom cover the rest.
Questions locals ask about EPCOT
How far is EPCOT from Port St. Lucie?
About 122 road miles, roughly two hours up Florida's Turnpike. Vero Beach is about 102 miles, Fort Pierce 115 and Stuart 130. You park at the front of the park and walk in; there's no monorail or ferry step like Magic Kingdom.
Is EPCOT good for adults without kids?
It's the best Disney park for adults. Four festivals a year, eleven countries of restaurants and bars around the World Showcase, concerts included with admission, and a nighttime show at 9. Guardians of the Galaxy and Test Track cover the thrill rides.
What are the EPCOT festival dates for 2026 and 2027?
Food and Wine runs August 27 to November 21, 2026. Festival of the Holidays with the Candlelight Processional runs November 27 to December 30, 2026. Festival of the Arts runs January 15 to March 1, 2027, and Flower and Garden runs March 10 to May 31, 2027.
Can annual passholders get into EPCOT after 2 p.m. without a reservation?
Yes. Passholders can enter any Disney park after 2 p.m. without a park reservation, except Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom. Blockout dates still apply to the lower pass tiers. Arriving at 2 and staying for Luminous at 9 is the standard local plan for EPCOT.
How much is Lightning Lane at EPCOT?
Multi Pass ran about $18 in September 2026 and rises to $28 on October 5, with a 2026 range of roughly $15 to $37. Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind is the only Single Pass ride, about $14 to $22. Day guests can buy three days ahead in the app.
What time is Luminous at EPCOT?
9 p.m. most of the year, about 18 minutes over World Showcase Lagoon. During the Festival of the Holidays the park closes at 9 and Luminous starts at 9:15. From EPCOT's lot, Port St. Lucie is about two hours, so a 9 p.m. show gets you home around 11:30.
